Amex Centurion Lounge Finally Opening In DC?

July 15, 2024 at 08:27 EDT By Spencer Howard

Redditor /u9821 shared that "The DCA centurion lounge appears to be opening, or at least is very close to it! This evening, from the Sky Club I could see workers disassembling (?) the wooden cover. I asked a security guard there when it would open and all he said was “soon”. But from the looks of it, it’s basically done—there’s even art up on the walls. I also saw someone walking around inside taking a video."

Points Wire Note:

The Amex Centurion Lounge at Reagan National Airport was originally scheduled to open in late 2022. It's opening was then pushed to early 2024. Clearly, neither of those targets were me. Hopefully, we'll actually see an official opening date soon!

Chase Sapphire Reserve Offers Marriott Gold Fast Track

July 10, 2024 at 13:20 EDT By Spencer Howard

If you have the Chase Sapphire Reserve, you can register for a Marriott Bonvoy Gold status fast track promotion.

If you register by September 30, 2024, you'll receive 3 months of Marriott Gold status. If you stay 3 nights within that 3 months, your Gold status will be extended through February 2026.

Points Wire Note:

Marriott Gold is middling at best. You can get late checkout and room upgrades (in theory), but it doesn't provide breakfast. As for the promo, it's nice enough if you have Marriott stays coming up, but the Amex Platinum and Business Platinum offer Gold status just for being a cardholder.

Amex Devalues Popular Schwab Amex Platinum Benefit

July 3, 2024 at 12:06 EDT By Spencer Howard

Danny the Deal Guru: "The Schwab Amex Platinum card has a unique feature. It lets you redeem Membership Rewards points for deposits to an eligible Schwab account at  a value of 1.1 cents per point."

"Now Amex is notifying members of an upcoming change that is bad news for those who use this cash out method heavily. Starting in October, redeeming at 1.1 cents per point will be limited to just 1 million points per year. After that you will only get a value of 0.8 cents per points."

Amex has listed the notice under the card's benefits. It reads:

“Important Note: Starting Oct 1, 2024, the rate for redeeming Membership Rewards points for deposits will change. Basic Card Members will be able to redeem Membership Rewards points for deposits to their eligible Schwab account at a rate of 10,000 points for a $110 deposit for up to 1,000,000 points, after which they may continue to redeem points at a rate of 10,000 points for an $80 deposit through the remainder of the calendar year.”

Amex Centurion Lounge Coming To Tokyo Haneda In 2025

July 3, 2024 at 10:10 EDT By Spencer Howard

American Express is opening a Centurion Lounge in Terminal 3 of Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) in 2025. At only 7,352 square feet, the lounge won't have that much space - only 122 seats. Considering that theTerminal 3 is the main international terminal, I'll be curious to see if it gets too crowded to be comfortable.

Chase Sapphire Preferred Bonus Issues For Recent Applicants

June 28, 2024 at 16:23 EDT By Spencer Howard

Travel on Points: "There is a Sapphire Preferred bonus issue that recent applicants are running into. From what we can tell, this appears to be a glitch in the matrix, on Chase's end. It also appears to be happening to people who signed up for the card over the last month, likely when the increased offer was still around and kicking. If you are being told that you are not eligible for the Chase Sapphire Preferred welcome offer, or you don't see a bonus offer tracker, then know you are not alone."
