Amex Sending 1099-INT For Business Checking Bonuses

April 12, 2024 at 08:05 EDT By Spencer Howard

Redditor b1900  reports that American Express sent them an email regarding the Amex Business Checking sign-up bonus they earned in 2023.

The email states:

“Due to a technical issue, we were delayed in issuing a 1099-INT tax statement for 2023 related to the welcome bonus for your account. We realize you may have already filed your taxes for 2023, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused.

To make things right, we’ve issued your 1099-INT tax statement. We mailed it to the address on file on April 9, 2024.”

Keep an eye out if you earned an Amex Business Checking bonus last year!

Chase Co-Branded Cards: New Targeted Spend Offers

July 3, 2024 at 12:01 EDT By Spencer Howard

Chase is out with another round of targeted spending bonuses. As is often the case, these are available on a variety of Chase's co-branded airline and hotel cards. Occasionally, you'll find an offer for the Chase Freedom Unlimited. There's generally a cap on how much you can spend for these bonus offers.

If you're eligible, you'll be able to earn bonus points through September 30, 2024.

You can use this link to see if you've been targeted for a bonus offer.

Chase Ink Unlimited 120K In-Branch Offer

May 23, 2024 at 19:30 EDT By Spencer Howard

Doctor of Credit flagged that Chase Ink Unlimited bonus in-branch is 120,000 Ultimate Rewards points once again. To earn the bonus, you need to spend $6,000 in 3 months.

Keep in mind that the Ink Unlimited is a cash back card unless you have either Chase Sapphire card and/or an Ink Preferred. Without one of those cards, you can't combine the points and your Ink Unlimited bonus is simply worth $1,200.

Points Wire Note:

IHG points are some of the least valuable points. As you can buy them during some promos for 0.5 cents per point, that's about how much you can generally expect to get from them. There are some great exceptions to this and booking a 4th night free award really help you squeeze out more value. Personally, I wouldn't shift much spend to this card as there are other cards that earn more valuable points.

Amex Business Gold Offer (No Lifetime Language)

July 15, 2024 at 08:08 EDT By Spencer Howard

Doctor of Credit reports that some American Express cardholders are seeing a targeted welcome offer of 150,000 Membership Rewards for the Amex Business Gold in the app.

The offer doesn't appear to have the standard one bonus per lifetime language which means you could potentially get the bonus even if you've had the card previously.

Capital One Transfer Bonus To Virgin Atlantic

April 1, 2024 at 06:05 EDT By Spencer Howard

Capital One is running a 30% transfer bonus to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club until 11:49pm ET on April 30, 2024.

Award flights on Virgin Atlantic have steep carrier-imposed surcharges which means brutal high taxes/fees. However, Virgin points can be quite useful for booking partners such as Air France, KLM, and ITA Airways to Europe standout.

Delta is another great option to Europe (not to/from the UK) and  All Nippon Airways (ANA) is always great if you want to visit Japan - though, award space can be tough. You can even use Virgin points to fly Air New Zealand.

Chase Cuts Priority Pass Restaurants From Sapphire Reserve

March 27, 2024 at 22:52 EDT By Spencer Howard

The benefits guide for the Chase Sapphire Reserve were updated to exclude Priority Pass restaurants from the Priority Pass Select membership the card provides.

“As of July 1, 2024, you will no longer have access to restaurants, cafes, and markets participating in the Priority Pass Select network as part of the Priority Pass Select Benefit associated with your card. Access to Priority Pass Select’s network of lounges and other select airport experiences is not impacted by this update.”

This change also applies to the Chase Ritz-Carlton Credit Card (only available via product change) and the JP Morgan Reserve Card (only available to select customers).

Chase joins American Express and Capital One in removing Priority Pass restaurant access from cards. Although, you can still get access with the Capital One Venture X Business.

Those of us with the Citi Prestige continue to have restaurant access - and the ability to earn 5x at restaurants. This card is no longer available for application. Be jealous. :)

Additional cards that have access to Priority Pass restaurants: Bank of America Premium Rewards Elite Card, UBS Visa Infinite,U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Visa Infinite.

I imagine quite a few Sapphire Reserve cardholders will be asking themselves whether the card is still worth keeping after this update.
