Earn Bonus Amex Membership Rewards With Employee Cards

January 9, 2024 at 13:48 EDT By Spencer Howard

Danny the Deal Guru: "American Express has brought back two promotions to earn extra points for adding Employee Cards to your business accounts. These offers are not quite as good as the ones we used to see a couple of years ago, but they can still be valuable as you can earn up to 5X on all your spending."

You can earn 15,000 points when a new employee cardholder spends $4,000 within 6 months when you add a new employee card to the Amex Business Platinum, Amex Business Gold, and Amex Blue Business Plus.

Use the links below to check if you're eligible:

Points Wire Note:

For each business card you have, you can add up to 5 new employees to earn the bonus. It's a lot to track but you could earn a ton of Amex Membership Rewards points. Don't forget, you can add Employee Business Expense Cards which don't have annual fees but still qualify for the bonus.

American AAdvantage eShopping

Spend $200+, earn 500 bonus miles. Spend $400+, earn 1,000 bonus miles.

Earn Up To 9X American Miles From Dell

January 5, 2024 at 14:51 EDT By Spencer Howard

The American Airlines shopping portal is currently offering 9X points on accessories purchased from Dell. If you're just a bit short of earning the next level of status with American Airlines, this could be a great way to top off your Loyalty Points before the deadline of February 29, 2024.

Even better, if you have an Amex Business Platinum, you can use your $200 Dell credit for the January to June timeframe and get reimbursed for all or part of your purchase.

Dell allows you to split payment across multiple cards online so you can use an Amex Business Platinum to cover $200 of a purchase and another card to cover the rest, if you prefer.

Nice flag by Frequent Miler.

New Rounds Of Chase Spend Bonuses (Targeted)

January 4, 2024 at 09:45 EDT By Spencer Howard

While the Chase Freedom Flex (and Chase Freedom) officially offer rotating 5%/5x quarterly bonus categories, co-brand cardholders often have bonus offers. The kicker is that you have to add the offer to your card to activate it. Sometimes, Chase won't even let you know the offer is available so it's up to you to check.

Travel on Points flagged that a new round of offers is live. These offers run through March 31, 2024 unless otherwise noted.

So far, I've seen the following offers:

  • 10x Amazon, gas, grocery, and Amazon for up to $1,000 in spend
  • 5x Amazon, gas, grocery, and Amazon for up to $1,000 in spend
  • $25-35 back on Max after $99 in cumulative spend (offer ends 9/30/2024)
  • 10,000 points on $110 or more in hotel bookings in 2024

Switch To T-Mobile, Earn 10K SkyMiles

December 30, 2023 at 08:45 EDT By Spencer Howard

If you've been considering a switch to T-Mobile, you may be able to earn 10,000 SkyMiles for making that switch. To be eligible, you need to have had a U.S. mobile plan for the previous 90 days. You'll receive the 10,000 SkyMiles after three months with your new T-Mobile plan.

Eligible T-Mobile Plans:

  • Go5G
  • Go5G Plus

Check your eligibility

Points Wire Note:

Delta SkyMiles are among the least valuable miles in the world so I wouldn't change mobile plans just for the 10,000 miles. However, if you're planning to switch to T-Mobile anyway, you might as well pick up some extra miles!

Is This The Best Way To Buy British Airways Avios?

December 28, 2023 at 12:54 EDT By Spencer Howard

British Airways launched Balance Booster about 6 months ago and it's now the cheapest way to buy Avios. Head for Points posted a reminder about this and I realized that many people don't even know it's an option.

What Is Balance Booster?

Based on the Avios you've earned in the last 30 days, you can buy up to 300% of that total. For example, if you have transferred 10,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points to your British Airways Executive Club account in the last 30 days, paying for a 300% boost would get you an additional 30,000 Avios.

BA Balance Booster Pricing

Eligible Avios For Boosting

You can "boost" Avios earned via the following methods:

  • Transfers from bank programs
  • Co-branded credit card spend
  • Flights
  • BA's shopping portal

Transfers from other airlines on the Avios platform are not eligible.

BA Balance Booster T&C

How Much Does It Cost?

While you can pay for a 100% or 200% boost, the best deal is at 300% Currently, you can boost your Avios for 1.2 cents per point when doing a 300% boost.

Points Wire Note:

Since it's so easy to earn Avios via transferable points in the U.S., it's important to consider whether you even need to buy Avios.

If you need more than you can transfer for a particular award, it could certainly be useful. Additionally, if you want to save some of your transferable points for another booking, this could be useful as well.

Lyft X Alaska: Earn 2X Miles On Rides To An Airport

December 27, 2023 at 14:22 EDT By Spencer Howard

You can earn 2x Alaska miles on Lyft rides to an airport in the U.S. or Canada through January 14, 2024 at 11:59pm ET. You must link your Alaska Mileage Plan and Lyft accounts prior to booking a ride to be eligible. Additionally, you need to select Alaska Mileage Plan as your your travel partner in the Lyft app.

Bonus miles should post within 7 days of your completed ride.

More details here

Points Wire Note:

Personally, I prefer to link my Bilt Rewards account to Lyft as I value the flexibility of Bilt points more than Alaska miles. However, if you need to top off your Alaska miles balance to book a specific award, earning 2x during the promo might be useful if you have a few rides to the airport.

Of course, if you really wanted to scale things, you could offer to book friends and family who need rides to the airport then have them reimburse you.

Bilt Rent Day Promo (January 2024)

December 27, 2023 at 09:35 EDT By Spencer Howard

Disclosure: I serve on a Bilt advisory board and may earn a referral bonus if you use the links below.

3 Transfer Bonuses Up To 150%

Bilt is bringing back three massive transfer bonus promos for Rent Day On January 1, 2024.

If you transfer Bilt points to Air France-KLM Flying Blue, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, or IHG One Rewards on January 1, you can get a 75% to 150% bonus. Your transfer bonus is based on your Bilt Rewards status.

  • Blue: 75% (2,000 Bilt points = 3,500 partner points/miles)
  • Silver: 100% (1,000 Bilt points = 2,000 partner points/miles)
  • Gold: 125% (1,000 Bilt points = 2,250 partner points/miles)
  • Platinum: 150% (1,000 Bilt points = 2,500 partner points/miles)

Blue member must transfer at least 2,000 Bilt points. Your transfer bonus is based on your Bilt status as of January 1, 2024.

Double Points On Rent Day Purchases

On Rent Day, you can earn double points on all purchases (not including rent). This includes double points on Bilt's bonus categories which means you'll earn the following:

  • Dining: 6x (up from 3x)
  • Travel: 4x (up from 2x)
  • Other: 2x (up from 1x)

You can earn up to 10,000 bonus points on Rent Day. You must use your card 5 times per statement period to earn points.

$5 Lyft Credit

Once you've linked your Bilt and Lyft accounts, you can activate a $5 credit. On January 1, you'll need to select "Activate credits" in the Bilt app on the Rent Day tab. Within 72 hours, you should see a credit under "Lyft Pass" in the payment section of the Lyft app. Your credit is valid for 90

Points Wire Note:

The transfer bonuses to Flying Blue and Virgin Atlantic are fantastic. I'm even considering a speculative transfer which I rarely recommend. I have Gold Status, so that 125% bonus is really tempting.

A quick note on calculating the bonus: This has been a small point of confusion during previous transfer bonus promos. To calculate the number of miles you'll receive from the bonus, use the following formulas:

  • Blue: Bilt points X 1.75 = total partner points/miles
  • Silver: Bilt points X 2 = total partner points/miles
  • Gold: Bilt points X 2.25 = total partner points/miles
  • Platinum: Bilt points X 2.5 = total partner points/miles
An example with Gold status: 10,000 Bilt points X 2.25 = 22,500 partner points/miles.

Personally, I would ignore IHG as an option since you'll get so much more from Flying Blue, Virgin, and other Bilt transfer partners.
