Don't Fall For It, Delta's Massive Devaluation Is Still Happening

October 22, 2023 at 14:50 EDT By Spencer Howard

Live And Let's Fly: "Delta announced requirements for its SkyMiles loyalty program elite levels would increase by 50-100% but after backlash reduced those adjustments to 25-67% increases. That’s not going to be good enough."

Points Wire Note: Delta never said they were wrong to devalue SkyMiles so drastically. They merely said they did it too fast and they only said this because of the severe backlash. Delta pulled back a bit, but still plan to implement the original plan. They're just doing it a bit slower with the hope that you won't notice.

Delta SkyMiles: Book Round-Trip To Save On Surcharges

October 22, 2023 at 14:29 EDT By Spencer Howard

Your Mileage May Vary: "Since both of the flights were going to be on Virgin Atlantic using SkyMiles, I went back in and entered the information on Delta.com so I could have both flights on one booking. When I did, something amazing happened. The number of miles was correct at 110,000 but the taxes on the ticket dropped to $241.83. That’s $155 less than if I booked the flights separately."

Aer Lingus and United Breaking Up?

October 21, 2023 at 17:26 EDT By Spencer Howard

One Mile At A Time: "In a regulatory filing, Aer Lingus and United have revealed that they will be terminating their codeshare agreement as of October 27, 2023. The airlines have had this partnership dating as far back as 2008, so this is a 15-year agreement that’s coming to an end."

"As of now, Aer Lingus AerClub and United MileagePlus still have a partnership, allowing reciprocal points earning and redemption opportunities. There has been no official announcement about frequent flyer reciprocity ending, though I have to imagine that’s coming shortly. That’s because this partnership has made zero sense to me in recent years."
