Marriott Bonvoy regularly runs promos for buying points. Currently, Bonvoy members are able to buy points with up to a 50% bonus if you purchase at least 2,000 points. The exact bonus offer you get could be lower. For example, I received 40% bonus offer. This promo runs through September 23, 2024.

For context, a 50% bonus is as high as we've seen. bonus points.

Typically, you can only buy 100,000 Marriott points per year. However, the cap has been increased to 150,000 points for this promo. With a 50% bonus, you can buy 150,000 points and get 75,000 bonus points for a total of 225,000 points.

You can transfer up to 100,000 points with another Marriott Bonvoy member each year.

Points Wire Note:

These purchases are via points.com so it won't qualify for a credit card travel bonus category. Your best bet is to use a card that earns 2x on all spend such as a Capital One VentureCapital One Venture XAmex Blue Business Plus, or Citi Double Cash.

To really get the most out of your Marriott points, book a five-night stay and get the fifth night free.

Promo Code: Chicago Seminars - Hyatt Regency O'Hare

August 14, 2024 at 10:31 EDT By Spencer Howard

If you've been looking for a group of people who love points and travel as much as you do or you're simply trying to get a better understanding of points and miles, check out the Chicago Seminars at Hyatt Regency O'Hare!

I've been attending and speaking at the Chicago Seminars for years. It's still one of my favorite points and miles conferences!

One of the reasons I've loved this event is that it's a chance a wide variety of experience levels to come together.

Neither the organizers or speakers get paid for this event. Instead, the focus of the event is giving back to the points community. To be transparent, I believe using my promo code potentially helps offset some of my flight and hotel costs.

If you'd like to attend, my promo code can get you a discount on the event ticket and afterparty ticket.

Event Details

  • Dates: September 20-22, 2024
  • Location: Hyatt Regency O'Hare
  • Cost: $329 (General Admission); $30 (Afterparty)
  • Promo Code: SpencerHCS10Discount

If you get an general admission ticket and an afterparty ticket with my promo code the total cost will be $339.

Hope to see you there!

Promo: Buy World Of Hyatt Points With A 20% Discount

August 6, 2024 at 18:10 EDT By Spencer Howard

Disclosure: I may earn a commission if you use the links below.

World of Hyatt is currently offering a 20% discount when buying points. To take advantage of this promo, you must make the purchase by October 8, 2024. Additionally, you must purchase at least 5,000 Hyatt points to get the discount.

You can buy up to 55,000 Hyatt points for $1,056 thanks to the 20% discount. For context, we haven't seen a higher bonus since September 2023 when Hyatt sold points with a 25% discount.

Keep in mind that Hyatt caps the number of points you can buy per year at 55,000 points.

If you're traveling with friends or family, keep in mind that you can only transfer points between accounts once every 30 days.

These purchases are via points.com so it won't qualify for a credit card travel bonus category. Your best bet is to use a card that earns 2x on all spend such as a Capital One Venture, Capital One Venture X, Amex Blue Business Plus, or Citi Double Cash.

Since you can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards and/or Bilt Rewards points to Hyatt, you may not need to purchase points to book hotel stays.

Chase 70% Transfer Bonus To Marriott Bonvoy

August 1, 2024 at 11:39 EDT By Spencer Howard

Chase Ultimate Rewards is offering a 70% transfer bonus to Marriott Bonvoy if you transfer points by 1:59pm ET on August 14, 2024. To be blunt, this is almost always a terrible use of Ultimate Rewards points. I'd only consider this if you need to top off your Marriott Bonvoy account with a few points to book an award night. Otherwise, you're better off using Chase points for flights.

Amex 30% Transfer Bonus To British Airways Executive Club

August 1, 2024 at 09:18 EDT By Spencer Howard

Amex Membership Rewards has a lucrative transfer bonus to British Airways Executive Club. You can get a 30% bonus on the points you transfer to British Airways if you transfer by 11:59pm MT on September 30, 2024.

While British Airways has devalued quite a bit recently, you can combine Avios from British Airways with Qatar Airways Privilege Club, Finnair Plus, and Iberia Plus which each have some great sweet spot redemptions.

I do not recommend speculative transfers for most people.

Amex 20% Transfer Bonus To Hawaiian Airlines

August 1, 2024 at 09:10 EDT By Spencer Howard

Amex Membership Rewards has launched a transfer bonus to Hawaiian Airlines HawaiianMiles. If you transfers Amex points to Hawaiian by 11:59pm MT on August 31, 2024, you can receive a 20% bonus.

HawaiianMiles are pretty niche but they can be used to book Hawaiian's own flights. Oddly enough, using miles to upgrade to first class (it's really business class), can be a great way to book - especially if there isn't award space.

Of course, if Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines' planned merger is finalized, you may end up with a bunch of Alaska miles. This is not something I would gamble on currently.

I do not recommend speculative transfers for most people.
