Monkey Miles: "Virgin Atlantic has a great deal that reduces the price of Virgin Atlantic award flights, upgrades, and companion bookings by 33%. The big thing to pay attention to on this deal is that only the points are reduced by 33%, not the surcharges. Book by 11/27/23 and you must fly 11/24/23 onward ( yes the entire calendar is on sale )."
Points Wire Note: There's no way around it, the surcharges are rough which leads to some seriously steep taxes/fees. However, if you don't see award space on partners, this could be a good option in a pinch.

View From The Wing: "Southwest Airlines is testing sending Priority Pass cards to some of their credit card customers late this month."
"Lucky cardmembers who receive Priority Pass from Southwest will be able to use participating lounges, and since the cards come through Chase’s contract with Priority Pass they’ll presuming include non-lounge experiences like restaurant credits and some airport spas as well."
Bilt has two amazing promos launching this week.
Disclosure: I serve on an advisory board for Bilt. Additionally, I may earn a commission or referral bonus if you use the links below.
Bilt Dining: Earn 10X points from November 24 through December 1. Link a card to Bilt Dining, pay with that card, and you'll automatically earn points. Note that on December 1 (Rent Day), you can earn double points with your Bilt Card. That means all dining purchases will earn 6X that day. Pair that with a trip to a restaurant that participates in Bilt Dining and you could earn 16X!
Double Points On Shopping: From November 23 through November 27, you can earn double points on all of your shopping (not including rent) on up to $20,000 spend on all 1x categories.
You can still apply and get the card in time to participate. If you're approved, Bilt will provide your card number via the app so you can use it online and add it to a digital wallet to use in stores.

Points Wire Note: Bonus Tip: Many restaurants in Bilt Dining are also in the Seated app. You can reserve a table via Seated (or select walk-in at select restaurants) to earn cash back. On top of that, you can earn Bilt points by using a card linked to Bilt Dining.
If you sign up for the Seated app with my referral code (spencer53), you can earn $10 after your first meal.
Loyalty Lobby: "The partnership is winding down, and you have until December 31, 2023, to book Lindblad Expeditions using Hyatt points or make cash bookings that earn points."
View From The Wing: "I always assumed you incurred exchange rate risk on returns. If you book a prepaid hotel in Europe, for instance, and you get a refund later the actual amount of the refund could be more or less than what you originally paid."
"I’ve redeposited award tickets where the taxes and fuel surcharges were substantial, and I’ve lost money when those fees were credited back to me when the dollar strengthened between the time of booking and refund. It never occurred to me to ask my card issuer (usually Chase in that case) to make good on the difference."
One Mile At A Time: "Qatar Airways Privilege Club is currently offering two separate transfer bonus promotions. They’re not particularly exciting, but are worth being aware of, as this can also be useful for collecting other “flavors” of Avios (including with British Airways Executive Club)."
- 10% transfer bonus from Amex Membership Rewards
- 25% transfer bonus from Citi ThankYou Points
Please note that these transfer bonuses are handled on Qatar Airways' end so you won't see any indication of the bonus on Amex or Citi sites. The bonus can take up to 45 days to post. Hopefully, it won't actually take that long.
Points Wire Note: You can combine Avios between Qatar Airways, British Airways, Iberia, and Aer Lingus.
One Mile At A Time: "ITA Airways is the new(ish) national airline of Italy, and the successor of Alitalia. While the airline belongs to the SkyTeam alliance for now (until Lufthansa completes its takeover), unfortunately there have been limited opportunities to actually redeem partner miles for travel on ITA, which has been quite frustrating."
"Air France-KLM Flying Blue points can now be used to redeem on ITA Airways directly through the Air France or KLM website."
Points Wire Note: Whether using Flying Blue miles or Virgin points will be a better option depends on the route and whether if there is a bank transfer bonus to either program.
The Bulkhead Seat: "Without notice, CLEAR increased the cost of adding adults to a CLEAR® Plus Family Plan from $70 to $99 a year. Current CLEAR® Plus members will pay the new price for their additional members when their own annual membership renews. This is the second recent increase as adding family members cost on $60 in early 2023. Children under 18 remain will remain free for members."
Points Wire Note: The Amex Platinum, Amex Business Platinum, and Amex Green each offer credit to cover the cost of a CLEAR Plus membership. This can take the sting out of adding family members. If you have more than one of these cards, you could also use a different card to pay for separate memberships and get reimbursed by each card.
